Alumni As the Vida Jovem scholars grow and graduate from the program they don’t lose the bonds they develop with Vida Jovem. In addition to maintaining contact with the This is also true for the children who leave the residential program before finishing high school due to family court decisions. They continue to receive the mentoring, scholarships for academic programs and regular meetings through the alumni program. In this way, they have many of the same opportunities as the rest of the scholars. Of the eighteen alumni who are now young adults, approximately 90% finished high school and 70% have continued their studies. Those who have attended college chose majors in social services, business administration, nursing, physical therapy, computer science, and early childhood development. The alumni have begun their careers in various sectors, such as metalworking, childcare, information technology, asset management, telemarketing, retail, security and graphic arts.
